Am 22. Juni veröffentlicht Alex Patersons mit seinem trippy Ambient-Dub Projekt The Orb das neue Album „No Sounds Are Out Of Bounds“, und schlägt, wie der Titel andeutet, mit einem anything-goes Ansatz neue Pfade für kreative, musikalische Freiheit ein.

The Orb sollte eigentlich keine Einführung brauchen, aber im Wesentlichen sind sie eine seit 1988 rotierende Besetzung von Mitgliedern, die von Alex Paterson geleitet wird. Sie sind seit den ersten UK Acid House Tagen dabei und wurden schnell zu Ikonen der britischen Rave-Bewegung. The Orb haben 17 Alben plus EPs, Singles, Compilations und Live-Aufnahmen veröffentlicht, die unzählige andere Musiker beeinflusst haben. Die Veröffentlichung des neuen Albums fällt mit dem 30jährigen Jubiläum von The Orb zusammen (die ersten Orb-Demos wurden im Juni 1988 aufgenommen) und wird weltweit mit einigen Special Events gefeiert.

Alex Paterson hat für das neue Album das „Zwei-Mann-Set-Up“ mit Thomas Fehlmann (der auf den beiden Vorgängeralben „Moonbuilding 2703 AD“ und „COW / Chill Out World!“ an seiner Seite war) erneuert und bewusst ein großes Ensemble mit bekannten Namen, Kulthelden, neuen Talenten und Newcomern zusammengestellt.

Alex Paterson, Thomas Fehlmann, Youth, Roger Eno, Hollie Cook und Guy Pratt (Pink Floyd), sowie der heldenhafte Bassist Jah Wobble spielen dabei die Hauptrollen. Zusätzliche features kommen von Gaudi, Roney FM und Michael Rendall, sowie den Sängerinnen Brother Culture, Mary Pearce, Emma Gillespie, Rianna und Andy Cain (bekannt durch Mark Ernestus und Moritz Von Oswalds Deep House-Juwelen ‚I’m Your Brother ‚und‘ A New Day‘.

“I wanted to try something with more musicians and more voices. More contributors essentially – similar to the conditions our first album ‘Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld’ were recorded in”, erklärt Paterson. “Thomas and I made two streamlined, techno-style albums for Kompakt which I love, but this time I wanted a change to expand the palate, and to bring in other elements that will keep people guessing and keep them confused. This is a more English and less German sounding LP and it’s on an English label, although obviously the music comes from all over the globe and beyond, as do the musicians.”
